This technology has moved on a lot in the last couple of years, and the TomTom ONE is just brilliant compared with what I had before.
It's got... a clear 3.5 inch colour display; clear and simple voice instructions; rapid route recalculation on the fly; automatic memorisation of recent destinations etc etc. Useful Points of Interest (POIs) include petrol stations, transport hubs, museums, restaurants etc etc.
For around £65 you can download maps for the whole of Europe from Lapland to Trafalgar (though some parts esp Eastern Europe are as yet only sketchily covered), speed camera sites, and it says it can even use your mobile phone's bluetooth connection to get live traffic updates though I've not tried that yet.
It's a lot harder to think about what might be missing. The POIs omit some places that you would expect to find. There's no mention of the Birmingham Conservatoire or RMA Sandhurst for example, to name but two recent UK destinations I had to find for myself. Also the German map omits any mention of the Deutches Marinen Museum at Willhelmshaven which surprised me. The suction grip for the windscreen holder doesn't always adhere very easily.
Overall though, this seems an excellent piece of kit and I can think of no reason to spend any more.
