PC World Business E-Procurement Guide

The increased momentum in the B2B on-line market is being driven by the emergence of e-procurement systems, which aim to improve the effiiency and effectiveness of the procurement functions in larger organisations.

These efficiencies are driven from a number of key factors;

Consolidation of suppliers - by product specialisation
Access to consistent, contract pricing
De-centralisation of product selection and low value purchasing
Maintaining central control of budgets and supplier selection
Reduction of "off-contract" rogue spend

PC World Business is leading the IT market in partnering with each of the leading e-procurement solution providers - Ariba, Oracle, Biomni, Elcom etc. - ensuring that our customers can select their provider, confident that PC World can integrate with their choice.

We work closely with our customers and their e-procurement providers to develop the most effective solution for each scenario. This usually involves a series of project workshops, ensuring that we deliver product supply solutions appropriate to each customer.

Support of these solutions requires suppliers to provide product content for the procurement systems and this can be provided in a number of ways, which varies from system to system.

We provide the richest product content through the use of "punch-out" technology that allows users to leave their e-procurement system, enter our web environment to select products, and then return to their system with all product data, ready for the internal approval process.

We can also provide product data via static data files using XML or other formats. This data can be enhanced by enabling users to "deep-link" to our product data, and so get the enhanced technical data required to select products.

Whether you are selecting an e-procurement partner or already have a solution, the e-commerce team at PC World Business will be able to support you with practical help in resolving tactical content issues or more complex integration solutions.

Please give either myself or the e-commerce team a call and we'll be happy to help.
